More than the Ocean - Lewis and Clark for Kids
Click on the picture above right to see some of the artifacts and replicas that will be demonstrated as part of the presentation. This one hour program contains stories of the Corps of Discovery that are of high interest to children. Hear stories of the food they ate, and the plants and animals they encountered. Great care has been given to portray the Native Tribes in a positive light. After all the Corps would not have completed the journey without their assistance.
This program is for school aged children and adults. The articles of interest used in the demonstration include as shown from top left: Sextant, 15 Star Flag, Compass, Native American Hoop Drum and Thrattle, Prickly Pear, Sun Glass, Jaw Harp, Quill Pen, Leather Journal, Eagle Whistle, Sounders Horn, Beaver Skull, Tomahawk, Peace Medals, Native American Turtle Rattle, and NW Coastal Tribe Cedar Hat.
All of these items are used as well as others in the telling of the story of Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery. Stories of events, animals, plants etc. are included.
